MEET THE FOUNDERs

Johnny O’Brien and John Wiygul first crossed paths after a triathlon in 2005 and quickly became friends, united by a shared drive for adventure and endurance sports.
While in college, John—Who grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with a lifelong passion for rock climbing—introduced
Johnny to climbing. That inspiration eventually led to the founding of High Point Climbing & Fitness in 2013.

Over the years, their business partnership has grown into something much bigger: eight climbing gyms across the Southeast, High Point Zip Adventure, and Trail Town Coffee.

Whether it’s racing triathlons, running endurance races, or designing world-class climbing facilities, Johnny
and John share a drive to explore, build, and push the limits of what’s possible in the world of adventure.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are core values for High Point. We remain strongly grounded in community, even in many different locations. Our goal is for our facilities to be a place of escape where a diverse, positive, and supporting atmosphere welcomes everyone. We strive to encourage and support groups who drive growth and unity within our communities and we absolutely do not tolerate any type of negativity or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, or any other identity. We are genuine. We love everyone. We are not perfect. We make mistakes. We learn, and we keep climbing together.
